Resumes and Cover Letters

IMPORTANT: A strong resume and cover letter are not nearly as important as understanding if you can compete well for the role based on your experience. If you need help getting clarity, begin with job search coaching instead.

Overview of Our Resume, Cover Letter, and LinkedIn Services

A resume can seem like the magic key to get you the job you want, but these days, a resume isn’t as simple as it may seem. Most companies now use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to filter through the many resumes they receive. These automated systems scan your resume and score keywords in the document.

If your document doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, your resume is deleted, never to be seen by human eyes. If you do make it through the system, you need a concise, compelling argument as to why you are the perfect match for the job. That’s why it is crucial to customize each resume you send out to the requirements in each job posting so you get the chance to make an impression.

It seems daunting, but we’re here to help.

Since resumes and cover letters are time sensitive, we know how crucial it is to get your application in before that job closes. We will do everything in our power to work with you in a timely manner, however in most cases we will need at least 72 hours (excluding weekends) to complete your package with you. Quicker turnaround times are available for an additional fee.

All packages include our book Landing a Job Worth Having. It’s full of templates, guides and practical tips. If you choose one package and decide you need additional support, you can add on time hourly or the price of your package can be applied to a package upgrade. Discounted rates are available on a case by case basis.

Resume Refresh Coaching

$180

This package is right for you if:
  1. You have a resume drafted.
  2. You are confident in your writing skills and ability to format documents.
  3. You have a specific job you are applying to OR you have ONE job description that best represents the kind of jobs you will be applying for.
  4. You want to learn how to customize a resume so you can apply that knowledge to future resumes.

What to expect:

The first session will show you how to add keywords into your resume, create compelling statements, and how to align your resume with current trends, formats and your job target. You will take what you’ve learned and spend some time revising your resume on your own. The second session will be spent going over your work and making sure you’ve grasped the concepts so that you can apply your knowledge to future resumes. This package includes email and phone support. You will be responsible for all writing and editing.

Cover Letter Refresh Coaching

$180

This package is the same as the resume refresh, but with a cover letter

Resume and Cover Letter Collaboration

Rates range from $250 to $750 depending on the state of your resume, industry, and level 

This package is right for you if:

  1. You have an existing resume and cover letter, but they may not be recent or complete.
  2. You are comfortable with writing and formatting documents with some support.
  3. You have a specific job you are applying for OR you have ONE job description that represents the kind of jobs you will be applying for.
  4. You want to learn the skills of customizing a resume and writing a cover letter so that you can apply that knowledge to future applications.

What to expect:

Sessions will be spent working together to bring your resume up to date, adding keywords, creating compelling statements and aligning your resume with current trends, formats and your job target. You will receive guidance on cover letter strategy and formats, and learn how to write a cover letter that really stands out.

Resume/Cover Letter Creation

Rates range from $300 to $900 based on your industry and level 

This package is right for you if:

  1. You are busy and don’t have time or bandwidth to do your own writing, or you aren’t confident in your writing and formatting skills.
  2. You are interested in receiving a finished, targeted product rather than learning how to customize your own resume.
  3. You have a listing of your work and educational history, but it may not be in resume format, or it may not be current.
  4. You have a specific job you are applying for OR you have ONE job description that represents the kind of jobs you will be applying for.

What to expect:

Initial sessions will be spent learning about your work life and history and what makes you uniquely qualified for the position you’re after.

Your contributions will be limited within a time frame that works best for you.  All resume and cover letter formatting and proofreading will be done for you.

Drafts will be created for you to review for accuracy and personal fit.  If you have any suggestions or changes, we’ll integrate them and you will receive completed documents.

 

What about LinkedIn?! 

LinkedIn refresh – $90 ($60 if added on to any resume package) 

This package is right for you if:

  1. You already have a presence on LinkedIn.
  2. You are comfortable with navigating LinkedIn to customize your profile.

What to expect:

This session will be spent collaborating on how to improve your profile to align with current trends, formats and your job target. You will receive coaching on how to write a compelling About section and Experience section.

LinkedIn coaching – $120 ($80 if added on to any resume package)

This package is right for you if:

  1. You don’t have a LinkedIn presence yet or your profile needs a lot of work.
  2. You need some support in navigating LinkedIn to customize your profile.

What to expect:

The first session will be spent creating your profile and adding in all the pertinent information. You will learn the basics of how to navigate your LinkedIn page and how to keep it updated. The second session will be spent collaborating on how to improve your profile to align with current trends, formats and your job target. You will receive coaching on how to write compelling About and Experience sections.
