Most women have different career needs at different stages of their lives. I have worked with college students, young professionals, mothers who work outside of the home, mothers who are re-entering the workforce after choosing to stay home with their kids, and older women. We all want and deserve three things:

  1. Fair compensation for our skills with the ability to advance.
  2. Respect for our ideas and contributions.
  3. Work/life balance to enjoy family, friends, and to nurture our own needs.

Here are a few of the twists and turns in my own career history, and how I can help you shape your career story.

Careers for Moms

My Story

In my twenties I was passionate about helping kids and low-income moms. My financial needs were low, so I found satisfaction in working for Head Start.  After I had my second daughter, I wanted to work part-time,so I negotiated with my employer to become a part-time Education Coordinator.

Your Emerging Story

I can help you build a career with an employer who is supportive of part-time work or working remotely. We can evaluate self-employment or contract options so that you can structure your own schedule to stay home with a sick kid, volunteer in their school, or attend their games, concerts, and other events.

Mid-Life Career Transition for Women

My Story

While my kids were young, I returned to school part time to pursue my dream of becoming a counselor. During this time I got a grant-funded part-time job to help adults return to college to complete a degree. When my daughters were both in school, I was ready to move into a leadership position. I became an academic advisor and helped fund my daughter’s college education while eventually being promoted to  the Director of Adult Education at Linfield College.

Your Emerging Story

I can guide you through the process of re-entering the workforce and moving towards senior-level and/or leadership positions. Together, we can position you to break through that glass ceiling!

Career Planning for Women 50 and Better

My Story

As I aged, once again I valued a more flexible schedule. Networking helped me win a part-time position with benefits while I built my private practice as a career counselor, job search, and marketing coach. As I now plan for retirement, I find it rewarding to train and mentor others.

Your Emerging Story

I can help you fight ageism if you still want (or need) full-time employment with benefits. And, when you are ready to phase your career down (but not out) we can examine options for encore careers that supplement your retirement income while providing a meaningful contribution.

Realize Your Dreams

Whether you are a recent grad, a new mom, re-entering the workforce, or ready to own your full career potential, I can help you evaluate the practicality of your dreams. If your ultimate dream (Plan A) is not practical at this time, we can follow the advise of Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook:

“Option A is not available. So let’s kick the sh** out of option B."
